Committees

Within the Baltimore City Youth Commission, we have created several committees that are dedicated to monitoring areas of city government as is pertains to youth. These committees are open to the general public. If you are interested in serving on one of these committees below, simply click on one of the committees to inquire.

Health

We are dedicated to linking children, youth, and young adults to the benefits and services of health. The Health committee's mission is to provide the community with the information and the support they need to promote and maintain good health through education and prevention by vaccination.

We also seek to establish relationships with health care providers and advocates of child welfare. We would like to see an overall improvement of the quality of life in children and their immediate families and reduce the risks of contractinf diseases.

The Health committee also serves at the planning team for one of the Youth Commission's 4 signature events. The "It's All About Youth" tennis tournament is strictly a benefit for child health care programs in Baltimore. These services are essential in the battle against diabetes, obesity, and STD's that include HIV/AIDS. The proceeds from this major event go directly into making sure that these services will continue to aid our city's young people.

In addition to our own efforts, we attend public hearings/meeting to increase our own awareness and educate ourselves on ways to promote good hygiene.

In addition to our own efforts, we attend public hearings/meeting to increase our own awareness and educate ourselves on ways to prevent truancy and provide alternatives to out-of-school youth.

Youth Violence

We are dedicated to working in conjunction with city agencies, communities, and public and private partners in reducing youth violence.

We work hard to identify reasons or social ills that contribute to the increase in violence among the city's youth. We are soliciting youth regularly on gang violence and how to decrease violence within the youth community.

In addition to our own efforts, we attend public hearings/meeting to increase our own awareness and educate ourselves on ways to prevent youth violence.
